Which Door Readers are compatible with Rhombus Door Controllers?
Both the DC10 and DC20 support Rhombus Readers, certified third-party OSDP readers over RS-485, and third-party Wiegand readers.
Can I power Rhombus door controllers with PoE?
The DC10 supports PoE, PoE+, and PoE++ , giving you data and power over a single cable. The DC20 is powered via an included AC-to-12VDC adapter and does not support PoE.
Do Rhombus Door Controllers work during network outages?
Yes. Both the DC20 and DC10 Rhombus Door Controllers are designed to still function during network outages. The DC10 and DC20 store credentials and schedules locally, so badge-in access keeps working even without a network connection. Remote unlock, credential/schedule updates from the console, and event syncing pause until connectivity returns, at which point cached events upload automatically. The DC20 has provisions for a 12 VDC SLA backup battery to sustain a power outage, while the DC10 can remain online with the addition of a UPS.
Can I power other Rhombus devices with PoE Passthrough?
PoE passthrough is only available with the DC10, not the DC20. The PoE passthrough allows you to connect and power nearby Rhombus Cameras and other devices through the DC10 up to IEEE 802.3af/at (PoE/PoE+).
Can Rhombus Door Controllers be installed outdoors?
No, Neither the DC10 nor DC20 can be installed outdoors. They are both intended for indoor installation only.
