Smarter Investigations with Color Search and More – April Product Update
With Rhombus’ intelligent physical security platform, users receive monthly product updates at no cost to further improve safety, visibility, and efficiency at scale. This month's updates make your video investigations smarter and provide greater control over policies and alerts. Let’s dive in!
Faster, More Insightful Investigations with Color Search
When it comes to video investigations, having the right search parameters makes finding footage fast and effective. Rhombus provides many ways to investigate footage, and today, we’re excited to announce a new one: Color Search.
Color Search allows users to search video for specific clothing and vehicle colors, making it easier to pinpoint specific people or vehicles without scrubbing through hours of footage.
This helps streamline investigations when time is of the essence. For example, following a burglary, witnesses typically only remember a few key details—one of those details being color. With Color Search, and the other Rhombus search tools, including Event Thumbnails and Region Search, you can find highly specific footage in only a few clicks.
Color Search is now available for Enterprise Licenses at no additional cost. To try this feature out, please reach out to support@rhombussystems.com
By using Color Search in the Rhombus Console, users can find all the footage of people wearing a certain color within a specified date range.
Enhance Alert Efficiency with Face and License Plate Labels
Face and License Plate Recognition provide greater, more actionable insights during day-to-day operations and are among the most-used features in the Rhombus Console. This month’s update has made them even more powerful with the addition of labels.
Labels make managing alert policies more efficient and provide greater control. They function like a tagging or grouping mechanism—where you can create labels for any number of faces or license plates, and then set up granular alert policies and schedules based on those labels.
For example, if your organization deals with trespassers who repeatedly come onsite to vandalize buildings, you can label each trespasser as “Definitely Not Trusted." From there, you can create an alert policy for the label “Definitely Not Trusted," so whenever someone with that label appears, an alert will trigger.

Protect Footage with Visual Tamper Detection
There’s nothing more frustrating than investigating an incident, only to find that the camera is down or has been tampered with. Traditional on-premise systems often have no reliable way to know when cameras are offline or when someone has tampered with a device.
Rhombus automatically monitors the health of Rhombus devices, and today, we’re excited to announce a new safety feature: Visual Tamper Detection.
With Visual Tamper Detection, you'll receive real-time alerts when the system identifies potential tampering. Rhombus continually analyzes your environment and establishes what is typical for each particular location. The cameras then compare the real-time video with historical video to identify anomalies. If the cameras detect a dramatic change to the field of view—such as spray paint, obstruction, and physical camera movement—a real-time alert will be issued. This allows you to quickly respond to tampering, so you’re never caught off guard by a down camera.
Visual Tamper Detection is now available for both Professional and Enterprise licenses!
Easily activate Visual Tamper Detection and manage alert policies within the Rhombus Console.
